Nevermind what the thermostat reads—long sleeves are required just about all year to protect from any unexpected drafts or wind. It’s as our parents and grandparents’ generations are always saying: “Non Ci Sono Più le Mezze Stagioni” (“There are no more half seasons”), lamenting the disappearance of the “in-between” seasons—i.e. spring and autumn. Really, it’s a catch-all about how the world no longer behaves as it should: the tomatoes aren’t as good, the summers are too hot, the winters too strange. Things were better before… weren’t they?
